Autism-MMR doctor is disbarred from practice

May 24, 2010

Dr. Andrew Wakefield has been stripped of his license to practice medicine in his native England.  Wakefield is the "researcher" who published studies, retracted earlier this year, claiming to show that the MMR vaccine causes autism.  However, his data was shown to be fraudulent.  This week, he was stripped of his medical license after an investigation showed that he also mistreated children and subjected them to unnecessary but painful procedures.  Click here to read more from the New York Times.

Dr. Wakefield denied all charges, despite the evidence.

Last February, he also resigned from an anti-vaccine clinic in Texas where he was a consultant, although he does not have a license to practice medicine in the US.
